The US Supreme Court on Thursday allowed President Trump to fire labor board members in a 6-3 decision.
Citing Humphrey’s Executor, liberal Justices Kagan, Sotomayor, and Jackson dissented.
“Because the Constitution vests the executive power in the President, see Art. II, §1, cl. 1, he may remove without cause executive officers who exercise that power on his behalf, subject to narrow exceptions recognized by our precedents, see Seila Law LLC v. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, 591 U. S.197, 215−218 (2020),” the Supreme Court’s decision said.
The high court said there would be more harm to President Trump in denying his right to remove the Biden-appointed officials.

> Because the Constitution vests the executive power in the President
Sad that this even needs to be stated.
True!
Not the threat of harm to Trump, as it was worded. It is harm to the rule of law vested into every Executive by Article II of the Constitution.
If the board members were illegals the they would have denied Trump. But since they are Americans... screw them.
Hear,HEAR !
Thanks, cgbg, for your rapid response. The SCOTUS and I agree: Apples and Oranges.
Why should the head of the executive branch, the POTUS have to get permission from the SC anyway?
Certainly one of the fountainheads of the Unitary Executive, and this majority will never mess with that.
And once THAT happens, then the supremes will rule that the courts can’t overrule the president so that the same tool can’t be used against any future dem president.
So it’s almost like they serve at the pleasure of the President. Who knew?
Eventually, Roberts will make a ruling after the Midterms. At the same time, the Democrats will impeach Trump.
It's possible for us to win the midterms but at this point, we're the underdogs.
Is there any reason to think that this signals a 6-3 block that is thinking alike about a lot of similar challenges to executive action that are percolating up through the Courts to SCOTUS? Or is this very narrowly focused on only one issue that cannot be analogized and extended to other scenarios?
I think the 6-3 margin probably will work for most personnel related issues—and that is a lot of cases where the leftist judges have intervened.
It remains to be seen if it will hold on other issues.
Trump is a lame duck now. It means he can’t run for reelection. I know this will trigger many.
“”Trump is a lame duck now. It means he can’t run for reelection. I know this will trigger many.””
That’s not what “lame duck” means. But you probably know that. And no, I’m not triggered at all. Just wondering why.
He is able to use his bully pulpit but that’ll expire by the midterms. The American People gave him a mandate in 2024 including winning the popular vote, he did not get that in 2016.
Ah!
Liberals in a jam, makes a tasty toast.
“It’s possible for us to win the midterms but at this point, we’re the underdogs.”
After the GOPe’s $4 trillion porkfest yesterday they sealed their fate, as always. These turncoats knew going into it they could pile everything they wanted as long as they included President Trump’s agenda. The notion that voters do this to ‘balance’ the power is a bunch of bull the MSM likes to promote. The GOPe is thrown out like clockwork because these leeches suck the financial teat, aka taxpayers and run up the tab every chance they get and the voters do not come out. My congressman is the perfect example, Walberg-MI (R) talks a conservative game but is RINO as they get.
That’s exactly what he said.
We should maybe pass some legislation or something. Instead of taking 6 days off out of every 7.
