Since Hamas' attack Oct. 7 attack on Israel, estimates run as high as 100 Iranian-backed attacks across the Mideast on U.S. bases, ships, and service personnel.
Iran has acted through its surrogates and proxies, including the Houthis, Iraqi militia, Hezbollah, and others.
Under the laws of war an act of war can be committed by the principal nation itself — which in this case is Iran, or surrogates acting on its behalf — with its approval or support.
There can be no doubt, both as a matter of law and military reality, that recent attacks on American troops, including the one that seriously injured a soldier, are attributable to Iran...
Under international law, as long as the attacks are directed at military targets, the attacked nation may use overwhelming and disproportionate force in order to deter or punish the attacking army.
International law also provides that the counterattack need not be directed specifically at those military targets that were involved in the initial attack.
For example, the United States would be entitled to destroy Iran's potential nuclear arsenal in response to the attacks directed at American troops by Iran's proxies.

They can produce weapons grade uranium by just running the centrifuges longer. Then they have to have a missile. Then someone has to give them the engineering tech or the device to stuff the metal into a warhead. I would first target any facility that would help produce a missile.

Then you are a fool. I also don’t “want” a lot of things but that doesn’t mean you do not act. The sad reality is that US leadership for the past 20+ years had gone out of their way to empower and embolden Iranian backed actions committed against the US. That is just fact. We do not live in Mayberry, we are a connected planet but our country had a weak immigration policy with extremely porous borders for nearly 3 decades. Leaders lead, because the weak are too delicate to act on their own, mostly from fear and indecision. We must not allow a nation that works by proxy attacking us and our interests abroad, and attacks our flagged vessels, with weapons that are getting bigger and more sophisticated to stand without massive consequence. I will trust our president to make the right call, perhaps not the easy one but the right call with intelligence he has access to.
I do not want to see our money wasted either, so I hope we commit, (Bigly) make it conclusive and shut down the capacity for Iran to function. Once economically Iran can no longer feed and care for their people something will happen to spit out the Ayatollah’s. The people will demand it.
Saying you don’t care about a nation like Iran getting a nuclear weapon, with their stated focus and desires on attacking the US by any means necessary and their intent to eliminate our Israeli ally is ludicrous and immediately puts your opinion in the waste basket to me.
My prayer is that the actions if taken make sure that my children do not see an incident bigger than 9-11 in their lifetimes spearheaded by the insane leaders of Iran.
