The thought occurred to me as well. Elon took massive hits with his businesses for supporting Trump. Creating a view that they are enemies and that Trump is against him, may win him back a bunch of the left-wing kooks calling him a "Nazi", and setting fire to his businesses.

This may all be show and theater, but it could also be a collision of egos.

As I commented on a previous thread, SpaceX accounts for about 95% of US launch capacity. If Trump wants to cancel SpaceX contracts, who is he going to get to launch US government payloads?

Those who want to throw away everything Trump has done for this country in order to embrace Elon Musk are people who have been looking for an excuse to turn on Trump all along.

They support dumping the populist who has made it his mission to bring prosperity back to the middle class in exchange for an ultra-wealthy businessman who’s heavily reliant on government mandates and subsidies and supports the unfettered importation of foreign workers via the H1B program.

If Musk controls space force that would be horrible for national security.

When Trump touted he was going to give everyone 5k in savings I knew right then we made a mistake. Now Harris was worse so we were between a rock and really hard place...I foresee the nation spiraling out of control now....

When Elon sent out a Tweet right after the election about MAGA being racist because we didn’t want HB1 I said he is mentally unstable and Trump needed to cut him loose. Of course I was eviscerated. I stand by my statement. The guy is very troubled and we have no idea what a nut like him will do.
