Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are seen by Russia as possible venues for a summit between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, two Russian sources with knowledge of the discussions told Reuters.
-snip-
Saudi Arabia and the UAE did not respond to requests for comment. The Kremlin declined comment. But both Trump and Putin have developed friendly relations with rulers of Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
Trump said on Sunday that his administration had "meetings and talks scheduled with various parties, including Ukraine and Russia." When asked about those remarks, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that contacts were 'apparently planned'.

I don’t believe that the EU or Ukraine have approved Russia and US meeting together without them (Europe and Ukraine) being present.
The calls and meetings will be separate until a framework for the Easter ceasefire is agreed upon.
Norks were withdrawn from Kursk as a Trump precondition for talks.
Saudi?
I think they just throw that in there in deference to Mecca.
UAE is the practical location. Abu Dhabi most likely as that’s the capital. Not Dubai. That’s their international commercial hub not diplomatic.
“Norks were withdrawn from Kursk as a Trump precondition for talks.”
LOL!
Putin also gave President Trump advance notice of the Russian cruise missile strikes this weekend. They were a response to Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil and gas facilities earlier in the week.
Norks were withdrawn from Kursk as a Trump precondition for talks.
In Abu Dhabi I recommend the Beach Rotana hotel. It abuts the Abu Dhabi mall which can be accessed via an indoor walkway on the 3rd floor. Best to load up on some bottled water rather than use the hotel’s. There’s a pool on the roof and a meeting lounge below with great views towards the gulf.
Just be advised UAE sponsors Afgn “refugees”. Some are bomb-damaged so to speak and operate unofficial taxis. They have the typical Jihadi vengeance-ledger and American is on the list after Afghanistan National Army. The hotel taxis are more expensive but vetted.
Another delightful thread is forming. Do you have a verifiable source or sources for your assertion above?
This would be like the (peace-in-our-time) meeting with Hitler where Czechoslovakia wasn’t invited. Regardless of where someone stands on the war this won’t be a good look for Trump.
Trump’s team are having separate meetings with Ukraine and Russia. Once the Easter ceasefire framework is agreed upon, the Ukrainians and Russians will be in the same room for the rest of the process.
“This would be like the (peace-in-our-time) meeting with Hitler where Czechoslovakia wasn’t invited. Regardless of where someone stands on the war this won’t be a good look for Trump.”
This tired old analogy. It’s not 1938 and it’s not 1939.
“Trump’s team are having separate meetings with Ukraine and Russia. Once the Easter ceasefire framework is agreed upon, the Ukrainians and Russians will be in the same room for the rest of the process.”
I thought I’d kept abreast of things but was unaware of that. It seems that whatever you read it is so hard over for one side or the other that a real picture of events, political and war related, is hard to assemble. Thanks.
So many assertions without adequate verifiable citations flow through these threads. Not only does the original poster make additional assertions without citation but....
Simply drawing from this Reuters --
"...two Russian sources with knowledge of the discussions told Reuters."Thus the whole article is without named sources, and repeatedly shows nothing which can be validated. This is the media today, and this is the individual who posts such media daily."...according to the Russian sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the situation."
"Saudi Arabia and the UAE did not respond to requests for comment. The Kremlin declined comment."
"...declined to comment to Reuters on this story."
“This would be like the (peace-in-our-time) meeting with Hitler where Czechoslovakia wasn’t invited. Regardless of where someone stands on the war this won’t be a good look for Trump.”
Time will tell on that. Two things for sure:
1. Zelensky will never let the war end, so what’s the point of bringing him along.
2. Zelensky is no longer the president of Ukraine based on their Constitution, so anything he does agree to can (and likely will) be ripped up the next time the Neocons take power in DC, thereby leading to a restart of the war.
And the Europeans are a joke, at this point who have far more to worry about in their own countries than what happens in Ukraine. Maybe that starts with Germany in 3 weeks, but I doubt it.
“Putin also gave President Trump advance notice of the Russian cruise missile strikes this weekend.”
Makes sense, since there is now an ADULT in DC, but might you have a link anyway, as I haven’t heard of that.
“Thus the whole article is without named sources, and repeatedly shows nothing which can be validated. This is the media today, and this is the individual who posts such media daily.”
Normally without named sources one can it’s an obvious plant by the Neocons (in other words, some crap from the Deep State). In this case, I don’t see how it benefits the Neocons, so, just maybe, it might be true.
I suspect the 'play' is to assert their trustworthiness, in this regard.
But for those who read a little further, the AOL site reporting Reuters shows the "best" comment:
JoeA few Freepers played the game of counting down the hours on "day one" as to Trump not ending the war in Ukraine, and then declared more or less the same opinion. "Trump failed / lied " and so on.
1 hour agoEnd the war in Ukraine on day one- that was weeks ago and will continue for a long time. Another Trump promise goes down the drain along with lowering food prices instead he is raising them along with higher gas prices.
One notices when these voices assert something, no additional citations, sources with names and the like, are ever forthcoming.
The neo-cons and neo-libs, post inauguration, seem to be operating a "read guard" action. No names, but lots of assertions.
I'll go along with President Trump's action, as there is MUCH to do, and the Ukraine-Russia war is only a small footnote to much larger issues for this nation.
